Mercy Ministry

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,

I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,

I was a stranger and you invited me in,

I needed clothes and you clothed me,

I was sick and you looked after me,

I was in prison and you came to visit me."

Matthew 25:35-36

Mercy ministry strives to reach out to those in need based upon biblical principles and teachings of the Bible.  It functions as a compassionate and benevolent ministry to our church members and also to the community via United Christian Ministries, founded by  Jack Kennedy.

Within FPC, Mercy Ministry includes the following outreach programs:

*        ministry to widows and single parent families within the congregation

*        ministry to elderly, as well as those with physical, emotional, or mental disabilities

*        ministry to prisoners

*        assistance to the local poor

*        transportation program for church services

If you have a need, or if you know anyone within our church family that may have a need that falls within our scope of ministry, we encourage you to call the church office and speak with Tracy Ross or Pat Brier. They will forward your request to a member of the mercy committee, who will then contact you directly. If you are not a member of First Pres Church, please fill out the attached benevolence request form and return it in person to the church office at 4901 Hardy Street, Hattiesburg, MS 39402.  Be sure to bring a photo ID with you.

To God be the glory!
